Yearbook photo requirements

SENIORS!   Requirements for Yearbook Pictures for 2007 - 2008

The specifications below define the type of senior photo preferred by LPS for use in yearbooks.  Bring these specs with you when you have your picture taken.

SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE PHOTOS

Size: overall size of the print is to be approximately 2"x3", or standard wallet size. The head size shall not vary more than 1/8" from a standard length of 1 1/2" from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head, 1/4" from the top of hair to top of print area.

Tone: faces must stand out from the background and have sufficient contrast to avoid a flat, faint, or shallow appearance. 

Lighting: faces must be uniformly and evenly lit without heavy black shadows, squinting, or over/under exposure.  No soft focus or diffusion shall be used.

Head Line: shall stand out distinctly from the background.

Poses: students shall be conservatively posed, preferably full front or slightly to the side.  Avoid extreme angles, profile views, or having the student gazing into space.  A picture which shows part of the shoulder will not be accepted

Background: shall be a medium tone; neutral brown, blue or gray, background.  No props or scenery.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CLOTHES TO WEAR

Boys: suits or sport coats with long neckties or bow ties; sport shirts with top button open; turtlenecks, v-neck sweaters with shirts.  No words or symbols on clothing.  Minimal jewelry only.  No hats or gestures.

Girls: blouses with sleeves, sweaters or dresses that reach the neckline; no words or symbols on clothing.  Minimal jewelry (small necklaces and earrings).  No hats or gestures.

PROCEDURES FOR TAKING PHOTOS

When to Take Pictures: seniors are urged to take their pictures during the summer or early fall months.  The deadline for acceptance of photos is the last day of October. Photographs will be either accepted or rejected by the advisor of each school's yearbook within five days of delivery to each school.  If a photo is rejected, it is to be retaken by the original photographer at no cost to the student.

Where to Take Pictures: students may go to the photographer of their choosing; however, the photo submitted must meet the specifications to the satisfaction of the yearbook advisor.
