Graduation Information - Class of 2018

April 2018

Dear Parents/Guardians of 2018 Seniors:

The commencement for Lincoln Southeast High School is almost here. This letter is sent to alert you to our plans to make it a satisfying event for you and your senior, and to request your support. Graduation will be held at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at 12:00 p.m.

Southeast High School has a proud tradition of a dignified and meaningful commencement ceremony for graduates and their families. For several years we have implemented changes that have resulted in a more formal ceremony. We intend to continue them this year. They consist of:

Senior Meeting -- All seniors will attend this meeting on Monday, May 14 at 9:30 a.m. in the Prasch Gym. At the meeting, seniors will “rehearse” for graduation and learn more about our expectations to have a dignified and meaningful commencement ceremony. Seniors will receive their graduation gowns, caps and tassels. Seniors will also receive a list of all fines, which must be paid before graduation.

Appropriate Dress -- Participating seniors must wear the traditional graduation gowns, caps and tassels. If you have not ordered the cap and gown yet, please contact www.LincolnGraduation.com ASAP. Seniors should not bring purses or other valuable items to the arena, as there is no supervised place to leave their valuable items.

Behavior -- Distracting and discourteous behavior will not be tolerated. We request that family members and students leave air horns and other noisemakers, balloons and other items which might cause a distraction at home. Seniors who do not wish to abide by these expectations should not plan to attend the ceremony, which has always been optional. If a student is under the influence of drugs or alcohol, he/she will be ticketed by the police and will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony.

No Seating Allowed on the Arena Floor -- Because of the seating and stage configuration at Pinnacle Bank Arena, parents or family members will not be allowed on the floor before, during or after the graduation ceremony. This includes being allowed access to the floor for photographs during the ceremony. Only graduates and faculty members are allowed on the floor during the ceremony. A representative from Lifetouch photography will be taking individual photos of graduates as they receive their diplomas. See the enclosed order form for additional information. Accessible seating is available at PBA.

Arrival and Parking – With the graduation ceremony set to begin at 12:00 p.m., and doors opening at 11:00 a.m., seniors are asked to arrive no later than 11:15 a.m. to Pinnacle Bank Arena and then follow the signs to the area behind the stage. Paid parking is available in the parking garages near PBA. Free parking is available in the “festival parking lot” on the south side of Haymarket Park. Please remember for security reasons PBA has a clear bag policy. If you are planning to bring a commencement gift for your graduate, Pinnacle Bank Arena does not allow balloons of any kind and they will be confiscated at the front entrance.

Every attempt will be made to clarify expectations and assist seniors and parents in meeting them. If you have questions or suggestions, please call me. We are very proud of our Class of 2018. We want them to graduate with honor and dignity. Please help us accomplish this.

Sincerely,

Mr. Brent Toalson, Principal
